Love In Africa

Love

In Africa

Book Series

Book one

Zimbabwe, 2001.

A nation on the brink. A woman on the run.

When Sibo’s father is arrested for treason, she is branded a British spy and overnight becomes a target. With a five million dollar bounty on her head, Sibo flees into a country fracturing along racial lines.

As land seizures spread and armed militia tighten their grip, Sibo forms a fragile alliance with Adam, a white farmer fighting to hold onto his family's land, putting them both directly in the crosshairs.

As violence escalates and racial tensions ignite, falling in love becomes more dangerous than the regime hunting her. A tense, slow-burn political thriller-romance, about family, courage and desire under surveillance, where loving the wrong person could get you killed.

What Makes This Book Different?

Inspired by remarkable true events, Love in Zimbabwe offers an authentic African perspective on a little-known chapter of history rarely explored in fiction.

Set in Zimbabwe in 2001, it's an intimate, cinematic thriller-romance about fractured families, finding courage and discovering what it truly means to belong.

BEYOND THE HEADLINES

Step beyond the headlines and experience Zimbabwe as its people know it. From the pulse of Mbare market to the fertile highveld, from Masvingo's garrison streets to the banks of the Limpopo, every landscape reveals another side of the country, and raises the stakes on Sibo's journey.

This map is only the beginning. The real journey starts when you turn the first page.

From Filmmaker To Novelist

Hi, I'm Afia, I've spent my working life telling stories through  a camera, and with actors on TV shows like Call The Midwife, Coronation Street, as well as short films and the theatre.

This novel carries that same sensibility. It's as visual as a movie, as intense as your favourite TV binge watch and as enjoyable as sitting in the best seat at the theatre.

This is a book from Africa, and for readers who want to feel seen, heard and understood not explained to. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it.
